Evelyn Roth - 'TV Trap'

The all consuming nature of TV. Evelyn Roth lives near Adelaide, Australia and operates the Evelyn Roth Celebration Center - an artist studio and residency in Point Roberts, Washington, USA, near the Canadian city of Vancouver. Born in 1936 in  Alberta, Canada, moving to Vancouver in 1961. Recycling came to the fore for her in the early 1970's, and Evelyn's knitting and crocheting skills came to be used to recycle natural fibers as well as television tape from T.V. stations. Resulting in the publishing of the Evelyn Roth Recycling Book by Talon Books (1974). www.ccca.ca  See Evelyn's video below!

Evelyn Roth - 'Car Cozy'

Keeps it warm in winter, cool in summer. See the 'must watch' video at the bottom of page - lots on the car cozy. Evelyn found out that old TV video tape could only be used 300 to 500 times before it must be discarded by the TV studio. She has crocheted that tape into numerous articles even a 1500 sq ft canopy that shaded a BC Expo pavillion which consisted of 1 mile of tape.  www.myspace.com/rothcloth

Adrian Kershaw

Adrian Kershaw is an artist working in a medium that is wholly recycled. These works come about because of a desire to find a use for some of the millions of VHS tapes that, now, are regularly tossed away. The artist incorporated a lifetime of forming objects with clay, yarn, rope, leather and now VHS tape into dynamic Fine Art. Almost all the pieces are crocheted and some are a combination with some wrapping and stitching in the coil pot style. These sculptures came about during an unintended break from the artist's true passion in the digital realm of design and editing. She hopes to illuminate the world with new ideas and creative solutions to a looming problem.
