The WE Party Manifesto
As a citizen concerned about the healthy future of our planet, I feel the need to start speaking up. This is 'our' planet and our children's future depends on this planet. Our air, our water, our land, our wildlife...all of these precious resources are collectively ours. We can no longer sit silent and let dysfunction take our planet down.
To right the environment:
Let's put the health of our planet in a top position in the hierarchy!
Let's practice the precautionary principle...before we allow something into our diets or environment...let's be 99.9% sure it is safe first.
Let's take away oil and gas subsidies. The oil and gas companies are worth billions, why are we giving them handouts? Let's put more money into green energy research and development.
Let's take away big-agra subsidies and re-distribute the money to smaller family farms and organic farms. Let's fund healthy choices, not gmo corn syrup.
Let's stop the chemical assault. We do not need hormone mimicking chemical fragrances in our products, chemical dyes in our foods, chemical residue on our clothes and all sorts of nasty chemical mixtures in our household cleaners. We do not need pesticides and chemical fertilizers - there are many ways around using these poisons. We do not need petroleum based plastics. There are bio-based plastic products available now for good prices. Put a tax on petroleum based plastic.
Let us honor and maintain the purity of our drinking water. It is a limited precious resource.
Let's decrease incidences of cancer, disease and behavior problems by doing all of the above.
To right our democracy:
Our political system is broken, it seems to have developed a polar reach - void of a 'middle way' - incapable of healthy action.
Let's take the government back from the lobbyists, the corporations and those undeserving politicians.
Let's pass a constitutional amendment to eliminate the first amendment right for corporate and limited liability entities. Corporations are artificial creations of the law and should not be breathing onto the necks of, and influencing our politicians. We have allowed the free flow of corporate money into our political system. Let's take our votes back out of the hands of mega-corporations. I do not want Monsanto or Verizon, or the Koch Brothers, or Whole Foods telling me how I should vote. Let us all vote as individuals without corporate influence.
Let's revamp the lobbying system. Let's charge a corporate fee to maintain a research department that objectively studies the issues politicians need to be aware of. Let's have our politicians make decisions after conferring with these impartial researchers before a vote.
Let's try to attract the best of the best into politics. Let's pay them well. Let's tell our journalists to back off a bit. Do they really need to sensationalize all aspects of a candidate's private life? Let's let politicians become noble again. Let's ask our journalists to give press to the noble deeds, not just sensationalist ones.
Let's tax the super wealthy. Raising taxes from 35 to 37 percent is not going to bankrupt any rich person. The American system allowed them to make their riches, allow them to pay it forward. Let's maintain the health of our nation.
Let's get Wall Street out of our government. Let's regulate Wall Street. Let's have impartial organizations continually monitor our financial sectors.
Let's relearn how to honor morality, not money.
