A Sampling of Environmental Charges Against Koch:

September 2000, a federal grand jury in Corpus Christi, Texas returned a 97-count indictment against Koch Industries Inc., Koch Petroleum Group for violating federal clean air and hazardous waste laws, due to the release of at least 91 metric tons of uncontrolled, untreated carcinogenic benzene. In April 2001, the company reached a $20 million settlement in exchange for admitting to covering up environmental violations at its refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas. www.justice.gov

March 2000, Koch petroleum which operates a refinery in Rosemount, Minn., was sentenced to pay a $6 million criminal fine and pay an additional $2 million in remediation costs. This is the largest federal environmental fine ever paid in Minnesota. Koch admitted that it negligently discharged 200,000 - 600,000 gallons of aviation fuel into a wetland and an adjoining waterway. In addition, their way of recovering the fuel (a year and a half later) destroyed a portion of the surrounding ecosystem and wildlife habitat. In a separate offense, Koch dumped a million gallons of wastewater with high ammonia content on the ground between November 1996 and March 1997 and also increased its flow of wastewater into the Mississippi River on weekends when no one monitored discharges. These actions allowed Koch to circumvent the weekly monitoring and reporting requirements of its wastewater discharge permit. The case was investigated by EPA's Criminal Investigation Division, the FBI and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and was prosecuted by the U. S. Attorney's Office for the District of Minnesota. www.ehso.com

Koch's Sterling butane pipeline had a leak in Lively, Texas, on August 24, 1996. Two teenagers on the way to report the leak drove into the unseen butane cloud, and were killed when the gas exploded and burned. The National Transportation Safety Board concluded that severe external pipeline corrosion was the cause of the failure. www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koch_Industries

In 1999
, a federal jury found that Koch Industries had stolen oil from government and American Indian lands and had lied about its purchases more than 24,000 times. In May 2001, Koch Industries paid $25 million to the federal government to settle the federal lawsuit that found the company had improperly taken more oil than it had paid for from federal and Indian land. www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koch_Industries

In January 2000, Koch Pipeline, agreed to a $35 million settlement with the U.S. Justice Department and the State of Texas as fines for the firm's three hundred oil spills (300 million gallons) in Texas and five other states going back to 1990. www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koch_Industries

In 2006, Flint Hill Resources was fined nearly $16,000 by the EPA for 10 separate violations of the Clean Air Act at its Alaska oil refinery facilities, and required to spend another $60,000 on safety equipment needed to help prevent future violations. yosemite.epa.gov

Climate Change Denial:

A March 2010 Greenpeace report shows that Koch Industry foundations have contributed (2005-2008) nearly $25 million to organizations that oppose clean energy and climate policy. That does not include oil and gas lobbying of $37.9 million. For more info on Koch Industries' funding of Climate Denial Groups -- See GreenPeace's report "Koch Industries Funding the Climate Denial Machine" www.greenpeace.org

In the August, 2010 New York Magazine article 'Covert Operations,' oil tycoon David Koch was quoted as saying, global warming will be a good thing for the planet and will help "support enormously more people because a far greater land area will be available to produce food." www.newyorker.com

Revenue:

Koch Industries currently brings in $100 billion in revenue annually.
Each brother is personally worth $21.5 billion. Together 43 billion.*
Koch Industries spent a total of $37.9 million on oil and gas lobbying
from January 2006 to December 2009. www.sourcewatch.org

Voting:

Since the Citizen's United decision, corporations can now attempt to influence their employees' votes. The Koch Brothers jumped on that band wagon right away and mailed out lists of Koch supported candidates to their 50,000 employees during the last election. See info and a copy of a recommended election packet at www.thenation.com

The Mercatus Center is a conservative Think Tank at George Mason University’s Arlington campus. It is a university-based research center that makes its research findings available to the media and public policy makers. According to GreenPeace the Mercatus Center has received over 10 million dollars worth of funding from the Koch Brothers. Mercatus also fights environmental regulation, opposes clean energy legislation and lobbys to prevent curbs on industrial pollution. www.greenpeace.org  mercatus.org

What is exactly wrong with what the brothers are doing? I think they are providing plenty of Domestic jobs and want to provide more. Why are you trying to destroy them? Last time I checked, making a profit was not a crime. Do you really want the brothers to take their companies over seas? along with their jobs? Do you want to buy Chinese products instead of theirs?

I have read from all of the people who call themselves Americans who support the Koch Brothers efforts to destroy this country and what it stands for. You are the same people who have gotten rich by climbing on the backs of others all the while stuffing your pockets along the way. If you do not care about the enviorment, your childrens future or the country then please leave, no one wants you here. You may find yourself hunted one day.

RIGHT-WINGERS, PLEASE TAKE NOTE :)
Reply #559 on : Wed September 05, 2012, 15:12:07
It always amazes me when people come back with comments about George Soros... What they don't seem to think about is, what are the Kochs vs. Soros fighting for? Soros... fighting for fairness and protecting our precious resources and us little folks. Koch Bros. fight to get rid of any regulatory obstacle to them destroying the land, polluting the air and water, abusing employees by taking away any worker rights protection so in their perfect world, we will all basically be day-laborers with low wage, no healthcare, no rights and no way to fight back.

WAKE UP RIGHT-WINGERS! PLEASE! You are being told to be scared of socialism and it's all a mind-f*ck! Left-wingers are fighting for workers' rights. Unless you are making over $250,000 a year, you SHOULD BE fighting with us! This isn't about socialism. But, as long as Rush, Glen and all these other MILLIONAIRES keep getting you to believe it is, they can keep you from fighting for your own interests! They are laughing all the way to the bank. I know you have your pride to keep you from wanting to see that maybe they've pulled the wool over your eyes. It's human nature to want to deny that, and call the other side crazy. However, which would be better? To just be honest with yourself and stop drinking their koolaid, or to continue letting them get you to vote AGAINST your best interest? Please, I beg of you, stop listening to these liars. And, they ARE liars. It is easily proven. The irony is that what these greedy bastards fight for is against THEIR best interests! It’s unsustainable. If the economy collapses, they can’t eat their gold… and they will not survive the toxic water, air and food that their greed created.

If I'm wrong, and you're right, the worst that happens is we end up with a socialistic society where everybody gets a fair shake but the rich can't get quite as rich. But, if I'm right and you're wrong, we will all die because they are poisoning clean water supplies from fracking, the food with GMOs, our air and water through mass production of unnecessary chemicals, and the effects of global warming, not to mention that, in the meantime, our economy will collapse because they have TAKEN from the bottom as much as possible and they can't keep cutting jobs and wages without shoring up that base. It is unsustainable. We could survive with an economic collapse, we might survive GMOs (with a shortened lifespan), BUT we CANNOT survive without clean water! I am 51 and just this summer know of at least 10 people in my age group who have died or are dying of cancer. We've got to stop allowing the massive chemical pollution/destruction of our food, water, land, air before we all perish.

What greed surrounds them and they only want more and more. We need to be very determined in our efforts to go against their money in this election.

I'll use this list for the opposite purpose that the site owner intends.

Some of those brands are a little bit pricy, but I'm willing to shell out the extra to show support for those who stand up against Marxism and who stand up against anti-truth.

Thanks again for the list !

It is to bad that scumbags like the Koch brothers can get away with so much because they use money to pay fines and bribe whoever gets in there way. They pollute the environment and do not care one bit on who they hurt.
Scumbags like this should be thrown into jail for all the dirty deals they make through there lobbyists. I wonder how much money they bribe the Washington politicians behind closed doors? This scum can't take there money with them when they die and will be tormented in HELL FOR ETERNITY!

America's not broke, it is being robbed by the likes of the Koch family. Make people sick so you can sell them stuff they wouldn't have needed if you hadn't made them sick in the first place. Now that's a heck of a business model. A true free market economy would be great in a perfect world. The Koch family only serves to remind us that we are not living in that perfect world.

The truth is that you and your children and children's children will experience increasing cancer incidents, weather-related disasters, and water toxicity. When u finally need the govt's help as an ungrateful brat, there will be no sufficiently funded public services to help you. You will be broke from medical bills because Medicare will be cut. The Koch brothers will eat golden gilded grapes from their ivory tower and be helicopter lifted out of the flood. This is their dream. And supporters of them are retarded.

I hope to see Koch Industries brought it/their various knees. I don't think I'll live that long.

It's sad when wealth distorts one's views to the point it apparently has with the Koch fools.

The Koch Brothers aren't even real Americans. Real Americans care about the future of the nation. The Koch Brothers don't care who gets hurt/poisoned/etc. How very sad.

I agree with what Deb says about Adele, she has to be related or working for the fascist Koch Brothers and it will show in the future that the people will speak when we take these two brothers down through the Democratic way. They are just like Hitler,Mussolini and Prescott Bush. That is George's grandfather just in case no one knows who financed German Industrialist Fritz Thyssen who was with Hitler at the time. Prescott Bush was the CEO of United Banking Corporation during WWII that was financing Thyssen and FDR passed a law that if you are dealing with the enemy you will be federally prosecuted. Needless to say he stopped financing him.

Typical assholes!

KOCH and their billions

I have been Boycotting the Koch's for about a year now and will continue to do so. I have told Koch Industries that they can add one more person, who refuses to buy their products, to their list.
Boy, oh boy. The Koch Brothers have a load of you people fooled. Adele-"A wonderful family"? You either work for them or are related to them. THE Kochs WANT TO RULE THE WORLD. And they have all of you blindly following them, but you won't bother to check the facts and you will never admit you could be wrong. That's the same thing that's wrong with the Repubs...following blindly behind your leaders, just like the Germans did Hitler...never bothering to check the facts and always believeing everything they say, even though they could be lying. I don't know if it's lazyness, no reading skills or just not caring what will happen to you and our country when you allow the Facsists Corporations rule the U.S.

Koch Industries make the best products. They are a wonderful family that support all American people and help many firemen and policemen. They donate to the communities where they own businesses. Most of their business are unionized. They have a right to spend their own money on what ever they want...just like the democrats. Just because they sponsor a different party or agree with you doesn't make them bad....it's the authoritarian people that doesn't have an open mind that cause all the problems.

Are there any apps that can be used by people shopping so that they can not buy one of these products at a store?

They're monsters.... stunning in sheer size, in their disregard for the environment, their disregard for everything but corporate greed. They make Walmart look small.

Boycott
Reply #520 on : Mon July 02, 2012, 07:36:47
Becoming aware of where people's money interests lie is the first step. The power of the boycott is still with the people. Boycott (as much as possible) these products.

They own way too much consumer business for any consumer product boycott to be effective,
Instead, vote against all political candidates that they support, and any candidate that currently votes for any issues that they endorse. The most effective way to fight these scum is to nullify the power for their money with the ballot box.

not only are they poised to hijack our country and if we have any shreds of democracy left, if they have their way we will have none. plus they are killing us w/rheir polluting/emitting - contributing to global warming ways. they are EVIL. George Mason Univ will hear from me. it is not much, but if everyone who despises these dudes boycots their products as much as possible, it will be a statement.

Boycotting all of the Koch Brothers' Products
Reply #513 on : Sat June 23, 2012, 11:29:09
Thank you for the list of their products. I may be only a middle class mom trying to eek out a living, however this is one consumer that will not add my hard earned money to their evil empire and I highly suggest others do the same. I will post these products on my refrigerator as a reminder of what NOT to buy when grocery shopping.
