How The Average American Uses Energy

The average U.S. American consumes 335.9 million BTUs per year, the world per person average is 72.4 million BTUs. 48.2% of US electricity comes from coal. Only 3.7% comes from solar, wind, and geothermal. The average U.S. American uses 441 gallons of gas for their car each year... and more...
DECT Phone Safety

Radiation from cell phones has been getting a lot of press of late but according to the BioInitiative Report cordless phones look to be just as deadly as cell phones when it comes to brain tumors and acoustic neuromas. DECT technology originated in Europe and has since been widely introduced throughout the world. Today more than 800 million DECT systems are in use. The pulsed frequencies of the radiation used in DECT technology are in the microwave band. The ICNIRP is responsible for monitoring and creating guidelines for radiation technologies. The ICNIRP guidelines focus exclusively on high frequency radiation and thermal activity. But many scientists have been pointing out that pulsed microwaves at low frequencies are also cause for alarm.
BP Oil Spill

It is somewhat ironic that an extensive environmental study in the Gulf carried out by the Minerals Management Service, that counted and noted habitat preferences of cetaceans (marine mammals with a blowhole for breathing- including whales, porpoises and dolphins) encountered two species (melon-headed whales and fraser's dolphins) that were rarely seen in the area before... During the study the ship heard and saw numerous sperm whales in the vicinity of the Deepwater Horizon. There is a native population of about 1400 sperm whales that live in the Gulf of Mexico year round. And scientists say if we lose just a few of them due to this spill, it could dangerously tip their numbers into the negative. See many more photos here- of native cetaceans and the Gulf dilemma....
Is spring arriving earlier?

A new study out of the UK, published by the Royal Society, shows that flowers are blooming 2 to 12 days earlier than they did 25 years ago. The study used 400,000 records of first blooms, and looked at over 400 species of flowers. The research showed this pattern of early blooming to be the first in recorded history. The study also showed that a 1 degree Celsius change, over a short two year period, resulted in an earlier flowering time of five days. An earlier British study "Rapid Changes in Flowering Time in British Plants" (Fitter, 2002) showed that 385 plant species bloomed 4 and a half days earlier during the 1990s than the 4 decades prior. And yet another study out of the UK, by the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology found that in 2005, species were breeding on average 11.7 days earlier than in 1976. In the U.S....

A Sampling of Environmental Charges Against Koch:

September 2000, a federal grand jury in Corpus Christi, Texas returned a 97-count indictment against Koch Industries Inc., Koch Petroleum Group for violating federal clean air and hazardous waste laws, due to the release of at least 91 metric tons of uncontrolled, untreated carcinogenic benzene. In April 2001, the company reached a $20 million settlement in exchange for admitting to covering up environmental violations at its refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas. www.justice.gov

March 2000, Koch petroleum which operates a refinery in Rosemount, Minn., was sentenced to pay a $6 million criminal fine and pay an additional $2 million in remediation costs. This is the largest federal environmental fine ever paid in Minnesota. Koch admitted that it negligently discharged 200,000 - 600,000 gallons of aviation fuel into a wetland and an adjoining waterway. In addition, their way of recovering the fuel (a year and a half later) destroyed a portion of the surrounding ecosystem and wildlife habitat. In a separate offense, Koch dumped a million gallons of wastewater with high ammonia content on the ground between November 1996 and March 1997 and also increased its flow of wastewater into the Mississippi River on weekends when no one monitored discharges. These actions allowed Koch to circumvent the weekly monitoring and reporting requirements of its wastewater discharge permit. The case was investigated by EPA's Criminal Investigation Division, the FBI and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and was prosecuted by the U. S. Attorney's Office for the District of Minnesota. www.ehso.com

Koch's Sterling butane pipeline had a leak in Lively, Texas, on August 24, 1996. Two teenagers on the way to report the leak drove into the unseen butane cloud, and were killed when the gas exploded and burned. The National Transportation Safety Board concluded that severe external pipeline corrosion was the cause of the failure. www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koch_Industries

In 1999
, a federal jury found that Koch Industries had stolen oil from government and American Indian lands and had lied about its purchases more than 24,000 times. In May 2001, Koch Industries paid $25 million to the federal government to settle the federal lawsuit that found the company had improperly taken more oil than it had paid for from federal and Indian land. www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koch_Industries

In January 2000, Koch Pipeline, agreed to a $35 million settlement with the U.S. Justice Department and the State of Texas as fines for the firm's three hundred oil spills (300 million gallons) in Texas and five other states going back to 1990. www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koch_Industries

In 2006, Flint Hill Resources was fined nearly $16,000 by the EPA for 10 separate violations of the Clean Air Act at its Alaska oil refinery facilities, and required to spend another $60,000 on safety equipment needed to help prevent future violations. yosemite.epa.gov

Climate Change Denial:

A March 2010 Greenpeace report shows that Koch Industry foundations have contributed (2005-2008) nearly $25 million to organizations that oppose clean energy and climate policy. That does not include oil and gas lobbying of $37.9 million. For more info on Koch Industries' funding of Climate Denial Groups -- See GreenPeace's report "Koch Industries Funding the Climate Denial Machine" www.greenpeace.org

In the August, 2010 New York Magazine article 'Covert Operations,' oil tycoon David Koch was quoted as saying, global warming will be a good thing for the planet and will help "support enormously more people because a far greater land area will be available to produce food." www.newyorker.com

Revenue:

Koch Industries currently brings in $100 billion in revenue annually.
Each brother is personally worth $21.5 billion. Together 43 billion.*
Koch Industries spent a total of $37.9 million on oil and gas lobbying
from January 2006 to December 2009. www.sourcewatch.org

Voting:

Since the Citizen's United decision, corporations can now attempt to influence their employees' votes. The Koch Brothers jumped on that band wagon right away and mailed out lists of Koch supported candidates to their 50,000 employees during the last election. See info and a copy of a recommended election packet at www.thenation.com

The Mercatus Center is a conservative Think Tank at George Mason University’s Arlington campus. It is a university-based research center that makes its research findings available to the media and public policy makers. According to GreenPeace the Mercatus Center has received over 10 million dollars worth of funding from the Koch Brothers. Mercatus also fights environmental regulation, opposes clean energy legislation and lobbys to prevent curbs on industrial pollution. www.greenpeace.org  mercatus.org

The Koch brothers have many material things, and are aquainted with many people, but all are bought. If they lost their things and money, they would never have a true friend.

fear corporate games
Reply #660 on : Tue May 14, 2013, 12:26:42
I fear corporations like walmart are, or may start playing political games with other corporations in the market. I hate the welfare walmart and other corporation take and have to subsidies low wages to employees. Walmart owners profit $9 billion a year, employ people at minimum wage and government needs to supply workers with food stamps to make up differance then walmart get subsidied by government for those food stamps being used in their stores by some of thier OWN employees. Pitiful we as country continue to allow corporations to continue to do this. Not to mention the oil subsidies also.

I have come to believe that not buying the products by a minimal segment of the population would be but a drop in the bucket of their total operation. They wouldnt feel it. Better to organize and hit them where it counts more: the rules and regulations and legislation that controls corporations. Other than that would just be a waste of time. Repeal Citizens United.

there's something you missed about this. there is no grass-roots TEA PARTY. All of the Tea Party organzations have paid directors, and they are funded through 503-C4 donations--read, KOCH INDUSTRIES. And no, they are not connected with a benevolent, compassionate christian god--they are the satanic barbarians.

Okay, the Koch Brothers are big, and we're all Lilliputians in comparison to the financial clout they wield. But if you remember the story of Gulliver's Travels, the Lilliputians brought him down and pinned him to the ground with thousands of tiny ropes. We can bring them down, too, if enough people are determined.

We could start a pepper question campaign, to pepper them with questions about their activities in every media and forum that we can think of. We can have demonstrations whenever they speak at Americans for Prosperity. We can boycott all of their products. We can hold happenings and teach-ins at their annual meetings of all these different companies.

Come on, people, we're not powerless. We've got the numbers! We're creative. And we MUST not let them continue to destroy our planet. It's that simple.

The light of truth is what sets us free. We just have to get all the information that we can on the 1%, and use what we know to defeat them from polluting our world, our politics, and our integrity as a people.

What we should not do is tie up our precious resources by suing them and getting into expensive court battles. People like the Koch brothers certainly hold the high ground.

It's better to start getting a stream going that undermines their position.

Kimberly-Clark of Neenah, Wisconsin, produces Kleenex and Scott bathroom tissue, both excellent products. So far the Koch Borthers have not gotten their greedy hands on Kimberly-Clark. The problem is that some members of our Congress can be bought by special interest groups. It seems that so many people in our country want to be entertained, not informed.

Ya might not even get a glimps of this comment ever but so be it. Truth is create all this destruction and waste for money something that doesn't even has life. I would like to tell how rich I truly am I enjoy living life for what it's worth I also know all my so call wealth don't mean shit I've earned it and then I died it stays so I never had any true value for it because I have common sense. All that I am has not ever offended anyone else I have actually indeed provided inspiration GOD true love. The world's true ruler oh and don't get it twisted I have true faith I don't have to see it to believe it. You see the mind is truly smart not in education but in believing and how it makes things come true. Every thing in the bible must come true you are even in danger of your own species when you don't have life's true understanding that if it wasn't for GOD everything would not make perfect sense or there wouldn't be a meaning for everything as well as the difference between the good and the BAD. To live life to the fullest potential also is like careering for another one of your KIND. I honestly tell the Koch brothers I have I better chance at life then they do I'm only saying that because I'm assuming that's exactly what will take place.

With no other force behind it the Tea Party may never have been brought forward to bring a balance to the extreme liberal policies of you Obama progressives. Why is there no metion in your political stuff that the Labor Unions have created a financial problem for our schools, for your government owned GMC and a huge number of state and local governments that are bankcrupt be cause of extreme labor demands??? Your distribution of wealth demand would be mute if Koch Companies and other big business never existed. We would all still be in log cabins hunting the land for survival.

After reading your list, I see I don't buy any of their junk. If I did, I would stop. There's got to be some way to make them pay.

Our only way to hit these autocratic plutocrat jerks where it will do any good is to boycott everything they make, until they can't make their rent.

I just researched Kimberly Clark b/c I wanted to find out who makes Kleenex products. Their "bio" is way better than the Koch brothers' info found here. I'm switching to Kleenex Cottenelle. Used it in a hotel and like it better than Northern quilted, so it's an easy change. Bounty is better than Brawny too, as far as I'm concerned. It's a small thing - but better than doing nothing.

Can you suggest alternatives for the products you have listed, so that we can stop buying from them?

Koch's are a couple of old fogies now
Reply #619 on : Sun November 25, 2012, 15:48:43
Thankfully, Dave & Chuckles Koch are a couple of Old Fogies. Soon, they'll be drooling while eating, incontinent, nonambulatory and incoherent. 2012 was their last chance to try to purchase the USA via a Presidential-position purchase of Gov. Mittens.
Glad to see so many people Anti-Koch Bros. have posted on this website! Their brain-washing techniques should be a crime. Both of these evil old geezers belong in jail.

I watched the documentary on the Koch brothers last night and was very concerned for this country. I think it is disgraceful for a group of people to have this much control. I believe these brothers have sold the their souls too the devil. Believe me there is a God who sits high and look low and is not pleased at the way American has become. Awake people of American if you don't stand for something you will fall for anything. Thanks for the list of products, I don't like most of them anyway, the quality is awful. God Bless America

We will all pray to God for their downfall for their belief and actions they take for faiure. If anyone can do it the Almighty can. I personally will look for other products than theirs for survival and will pass the word. Poor excuses for human beings. Glad they lost some of their money backing a loser like themselves. They will go to hell when they die.
