Dr Emile Greenhalgh, from the Department of Aeronautics, Imperial College London explains how his polymer resin and carbon fiber blend works and the future benefits of using this
material in vehicle manufacture. In the future (near future -- 2012) looks like our car batteries, as well as cell phone batteries, etc. will be the product's body panels (such as the wheel housing, hood, etc -- insulated to prevent shock). The team is currently working toward a 15 percent weight savings in a Volvo hybrid test car.
